"Do Your Part" II Chronicles 7:12-14

Now that the elections are over, where do we go from here? How do we really move forward? Over the course of the campaign there has been an extreme amount of negativity across the party lines and even across the Body of Christ. And it disturbed me because we're supposed to be one nation UNDER God! And something quickened in my spirit and I said, Lord somebody has got to pray. Because if our government is divided, our nation is divided. And then if the Body of Christ is divided we are in trouble. Somebody has got to pray!

Four years ago, we were all excited and full of hopes and dreams. And now there's turbulence in air because some folk don't like the ways things have been going. And the fact is we can look at the world and we can complain about how bad things are going. We may blame the decay of our society on the government leaders. However, the scripture makes it very clear that no matter what it looks like across this nation, God's people have the power, the authority, and the responsibility to turn things around.

We have to understand that the government officials are going to do what they do. The President is going to do what he knows how to do. But it's up to us to do what we know how to do. And that's to PRAY! Whether you know it or not, prayer still works. Sometimes God doesn't move as quick as you want him to, but prayer still works. Oh he may not answer the way we want him to answer, but it still works. And I believe for the season that we're in right now, we've got to pray. In this season, we've got to hear from God. We've got to know his heart and his will for our lives. We can't just move through life haphazardly. We need clarity and we need direction. And the only way we're going to get it is that we've got to pray. God is the one who has the answers. He's the one who has the ability to fix it all.

In this text we find God answering the prayers of Solomon and the children of Israel. He speaks after Solomon had prayed on the behalf of the people. And so he basically prays and asks God if he would have mercy on the people if and when they got off track. He asked God what they should do if times got hard and pestilence and famine hit land. In other words, he prays "God if things get turned upside down, what can we do?"

And so it took God a little while to answer, but Solomon kept praying. And when he had finished praying, the bible says that fire came down from heaven and consumed the altar and the glory of the Lord filled the temple. And on the 8th day, the Lord speaks to Solomon and says, "if my people who are called by my name shall humble themselves, pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven; I will forgive their sins and I will heal the land."

And so God says if you would do your part, I'll fix that which has been broken. God says after you do your part, I'll heal that which has been wounded. God says after you do your part, I'll heal the land. Church, we've got to seek His face; pray and believe Him for healing. Heal our families. Heal our churches. Heal the White House. Heal our government. Heal the land Lord. Heal the land!
